Multilevel marketing companies seek to make money with you as you build your business (and theirs) selling consumer products. Before you sign up with a company, investigate it very carefully making sure it’s legitimate. Multilevel marketing companies and their illegitimate counterparts, pyramid schemes, depend on recruiting ever-larger numbers of salespeople, or "distributors," as they are known in the trade. Some such companies, like Amway, Ultra International, Shaklee and Amway just to name a few offer legitimate products. Multilevel marketing companies are no better and no worse than traditional businesses. It’s simple, some sell great products and some don’t just the same as your local grocer, pharmacy or insurance company. And it’s the same with the management, some companies have good management and some don’t.

Multilevel marketing companies are set up differently than a traditional distribution chain. MLM companies set up the end user as the distributor of the products and give them the ability to both sell the product/service of the company and recruit and train new distributors to do the same thing.
